The BIG 5-0!

Turning 50 marked a significant milestone in my life, a moment that demanded reflection and introspection. Rather than opting for the usual extravagant celebration or a fancy getaway, I embarked on a deeply personal journey – a gift I chose to give to myself. I decided to write letters to 50 people who have profoundly impacted my life. This endeavor was more than just a gesture; it was a conscious decision to redefine myself.

In June, I made a commitment to become the kind of person who actively invests in relationships, someone who uplifts and inspires with words, and someone willing to let go of preconceived notions about what those connections should look like. My initial goal in marking my 50th birthday by giving to 50 others was to bless them and to follow through on a commitment. Little did I know that these letters would serve as a blessing to me in the most unexpected ways.

As time goes on, I will share more, but it's important to acknowledge that I undertook this task at a time when counting one's blessings felt harder than usual. The last five years have been a rollercoaster of change and loss, and my life does not resemble what I had envisioned at 50. However, taking the time to express gratitude towards others reminded me of just how incredibly blessed I am. What I initially saw as a gift meant for others turned into the most incredible gift to myself.

Writing these letters was more than just a goal; it's a defining moment in my life. It represents a deliberate choice about how I intend to approach and shape this next season. It's a experience that has brought me closer to my true self and has reaffirmed the power of relationships. As I stand at this juncture, I extend an invitation to you to think your own "lines in the sand," your own personal opportunities for transformation. May we all find our own "50 letters," whatever form they may take, and may they lead us toward a future filled with connection and joy.
